Packers Will Retire Brett Favre’s Number In ‘A Few Years’

Green Bay Packers president [intlink id=”122″ type=”category”]Mark Murphy[/intlink] stated the obvious again, yesterday: the team is going to retire Brett Favre’s number. There are no plans to do it anytime soon, though.

Speaking on the team’s Tailgate Tour, Murphy said the Packers want to make sure Favre is really retired first.

“Eventually, he’ll come back into the fold. We are going to retire his number,” Murphy said to a round of applause. “He deserves that for what he did as a Packer. … There are very few players in our history that had their number retired. He deserves it though. But it’s a very, very meaningful honor and we want to do it at a time when it’s meaningful for both him and the organization.

“I think it’s probably going to be a few years. We want to make sure that he’s really retired first. We made that mistake when he first retired after the 2007 season. Ironically, we were going to retire his number and have a big ceremony at the opening game that next season against the Minnesota Vikings. Little did we know he’d end up playing that season for the Jets.”

Murphy and former Packers [intlink id=”292″ type=”category”]Antonio Freeman[/intlink] and [intlink id=”565″ type=”category”]Gilbert Brown[/intlink] then took some jabs at the [intlink id=”35″ type=”category”]Minnesota Vikings[/intlink].

These guys are catching on.

although I agree the ass clown’s number should be retired, I think they should make him come in to a game at the end, when we’re about to have a big win against the ViQueens at Lambeau, merely to take a knee for Rodgers. (I’m still pissed about the comment he made to Jpeppers at the end of last season.) Since he won’t apologize for his BULLSHIT, make him pay with a little humility, then retire his jersey.

I really don’t want to have to look at his stupid name everytime I’m at Lambeau, but it probably is necessary. He did have some historic years in GB. However, most of us intelligent Packers fans won’t forget how big of a piece of shit this guy was and is, and how he pretty much wiped his add on the Packers and the fans. He will always be too arrogant/stupid to ever realize this or care for that matter.

I think we should inform Brett and the rest of the world we are going to retire his number and then change our mind. Then we do the same thing again. Finally we retire it posthumously. This way he gets his due as a Packer, all Favre apologists get their way, and those of us who realize what a Diva he was are happy because he doesn’t get the spotlight.

I too would like to know what jabs were taken by Freeman, Brown and Murphy.
Also, what comment did he (Favre) make to Peppers?

Click on the link in the second paragraph. Men don’t wear purple was my favorite.
Favre told Peppers to beat the Packers after the last time the Queens played the Bears.

Apparently you didn’t see the pic of ol’ #4’s beans and franks; “grown” men is the appropriate verbiage….

“I’ve got two things about purple,” Brown said. “No. 1, grown men should never wear purple. Two, they look like 11 little Barney’s out there. Three, the Vikings are horrible.”
