People Really Like White Running Backs

Aaron Rodgers
Cover boy? Doubtful.

I more or less thought it was a foregone conclusion that Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers would be on the cover of the new Madden game.

If you recall, EA Sports and ESPN are running a tournament where people can vote for the player featured on the cover. It’s currently down to four players — Rodgers is facing Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis. Michael Vick is facing Adrian Peterson on the other side of the bracket.

Rodgers and Hillis. Should be a wash for Rodgers, right?

Nope.

Hillis is winning, as of this morning.

That’s right. A guy with one decent season who plays for a perennial doormat is more popular than the broad-wrangling, legend-vanquishing, Super Bowl-winning quarterback for the best damn franchise in the history of everything.

Obviously, people really like white running backs.

My guess — white people.

If you care, you can vote here.

Rodgers tweeted that he doesn’t believe in the curse and wants to win. Sorry dude, still voting against you. This is bigger than you, this is bigger than us, this is bigger than Madden… whatever chance of the curse hitting our boy and ruining our season isn’t worth it.

I voted for Hillis. He got 3 TD’s in one game, and he looks cool. EA Sports was stupid in letting people decide, of course they’re gonna go for the more Folk hero type. Go Pack Go!

Yeah, I’m with you on the curse thing “Boston”. I rather not take that chance with our boy on that cover. Besides, it’ll work to our advantage. He’ll remember this like draft day, the Favre fiasco, the non “Hawaii pro-bowl” and now the Madden cover.
    Repeat baby. Go Pack Go.

Browns fans have nothing better to do than vote for their RB. Losing year after year gives them license to vote/ hope for a Madden cover boy. While focusing on creating winning teams and Championship-caliber football…well, that’s best left to organizations like the Green Bay Packers!

the play community college ball curse, the plummet in the draft curse, the replace a legend curse, the 0-1 (can’t win a playoff game) curse.. the MADDEN CURSE. you guys are idiots. i’m superstitious for games, but seriously, I hope you don’t walk around the office telling ppl you believe in this idiotic notion of a curse (and boy that SI cover curse really killed the Pack this yr)

A-Rodge would totally break that curse, but I am fine with people voting for Hillis. I don’t doubt for a second that Hillis’ total includes a lot of people voting AGAINST A-Rodge.
