As expected, the Green Bay Packers signed tight end/linebacker Spencer Havner. Coming as somewhat of a surprise, is the Packers cleared a roster spot for Havner by putting tackle Mark Tauscher on injured reserve.
Tauscher has been battling a shoulder injury and hasn’t played since week four.
Rookie Bryan Bulaga has started in Tauscher’s place at right tackle and has had his ups and downs.
Havner, who was among the Packers final roster cuts, was released by the Detroit Lions on October 14. He’s been battling a hamstring injury, but the Packers had him in for a workout earlier this week and obviously have no qualms about his health.
Havner is expected to bolster the Packers special teams as well as the passing game. No currently active tight end has more than seven receptions and one touchdown. Havner caught four touchdowns in limited action for the Packers, last season.
Havner will wear his customary No. 41.

sweet.. i like havner better than andrew “i cant catch the ball” quarless or tom ” look at my douche bag tattoo while i drop the ball” crabtree. this should definitley upgrade the redzone
Haha completely agree with you…how blacked out must he have been to get a tattoo that looks that fucking miserable?? Rodgers is probably beating off right now at the thought of a TE that can actually catch a ball in the endzone.
That just might be a wrap on Tauscher.
I think Havner will have a solid 2nd half of the season. He has some chemistry with Rodgers.
Never should have cut him Havner period. He did alot more for the Offense than many would admit too. IR for Tauscher is the end for him and force TT to go for another OL in draft and another Bulaga hopefully.
how about TJ Lang? When Bulaga moves Left, I see TJ stepping in at RT.
