The Green Bay Packers almost made it through their loss to the Miami Dolphins unscathed.
Almost.
Linebacker Brady Poppinga tore his meniscus, Sunday. It’s the same injury that ended tight end Jermichael Finley’s season. Poppinga, who started for the injured Clay Matthews, will undergo surgery this week.
After surgery, a timetable will be set for Poppinga’s return. He will be out anywhere from three weeks to the rest of the season, depending upon the severity of the injury.
Poppinga has 14 tackles and one sack on the season.
Matthews, meanwhile, looks as if he might be able to return this week. Defensive end Ryan Pickett appears to be in the same boat.
“Like I said, they are going to play. That is what I am told. They want to play. They are going to do everything they can to get on the field,” McCarthy said. “They both tested Sunday morning before Miami, but they weren’t ready to go. We’ll see how the week goes and I’ll have a better feel probably Thursday I would think.”

Can we sign Cliff Lee to a roster spot?
We should have our names changed to the “Green Bay Backups”
It’s almost getting the point where you can’t blame McCarthy as much for losing.
After all, it’s ludicrous to expect a team virtually full of 2nd (and in some case 3rd) stringers to compete against other teams’ ones at an elite level.
But eff him, I still want him gone. The awful discipline and mediocre play calling are driving me nuts.
I’ll say it again and again”if your starters can’t start on the teams you NEED to BEAT,how can you expect to win anything”.
Aside from Rodgers,Matthews,Woodson,Jennings,Finley and the big three of Jenkins,Pickett,Raji who on this team can bump the starter on the one’s we need to beat? 8 out of 53.
