A lot of attention has been paid to whether quarterback Brett Favre will be in the starting lineup for the Minnesota Vikings this weekend.
Favre fractured his ankle in the Vikings’ loss to the Green Bay Packers, last Sunday. He wore a walking boot until Thursday and he hasn’t practiced yet this week.
On top of that, Favre hasn’t played well, this season. He has 10 interceptions compared to only seven touchdowns and the Vikings are 2-4. Several talking heads have called for Vikings coach Brad Childress to bench Favre because of his poor play, regardless of his health.
Of course, Favre runs the Vikings and says if he can play, he’s going to play.
Let’s be honest, though. The combination of Favre’s fractured ankle and shitty play don’t bode well for him starting, which would end his consecutive games streak at 291.
Favre says the streak isn’t important to him, but anyone who’s paid any attention to Brett Favre over the years knows that’s a load of crap, which brings me to this point.
If Favre’s streak ends this week, it will be the Green Bay Packers — the organization he had to get revenge on, the organization he held hostage summer after summer, the organization he stabbed in the back — who ended it.
