Two days after learning they’ll lose starting safety Morgan Burnett for the season, the Green Bay Packers may be down a second valuable defender. Reports are linebacker Brandon Chillar, who didn’t play Sunday, may have a serious shoulder injury.
Chillar injured his shoulder against Detroit and his agent now says it may end his season. The Packers expect to know more Wednesday.
The injury would be another blow to the Packers defense. Chillar is the Packers best cover linebacker and the team would be forced to use the slow-footed A.J. Hawk more often. Desmond Bishop would also see increased playing time.
That being said, if the injury is season-ending, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. Linebacker is one of the Packers deepest positions. Chillar is a better all-around player than Hawk, but Hawk isn’t completely incapable.
Chillar has 11 tackles and an interception on the season.
