Since this year’s football season and Super Bowl are over, we may as well turn our attention to next season.
On Monday, Vegas got in on the act by releasing their opening lines for teams to win Super Bowl XLV. The Green Bay Packers opened at 12/1, giving them the sixth best chance to win next season’s championship game, according to the bookmakers.
Leading the pack are this year’s runner up, the Indianapolis Colts, at 13/2, followed by the San Diego Chargers (8/1), New England Patriots (10/1), New Orleans Saints (10/1) and Pittsburgh Steelers (11/1).
Joining the Packers at 12/1 are the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings, although something tells me that if one Brett Favre decides to retire, the Vikings number will inflate.
As for the rest of the NFC North – the odds aren’t too promising. The Chicago Bears are 35/1 and the Detroit Lions are 100/1, which are the longest odds on the board. The Lions are joined at 100/1 by the Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns, Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
