There may be a 40 percent chance of snow when the Green Bay Packers meet the Baltimore Ravens on Monday, but thankfully, the Packers playoff chances are a bit higher than that.
According to Advanced NFL Stats, the Packers have a 77 percent chance of making the playoffs as a wild card. They’re followed by the Philadelphia Eagles (73 percent), New York Giants (52), San Francisco 49ers (17), Atlanta Falcons (14) and some other teams that aren’t going anywhere.
[The Packers] can afford to lose 2 more games and still be very competitive for the wild card at 10-6. If both of those losses happen outside the conference, they have a better than 99 percent chance of making the playoffs. If they lose one conference game and one out-of-conference game, their odds drop to 96 percent. If both losses happen in the conference, their odds are about 90 percent.
Basically, if the Packers finish 10-6, there’s a better-than-good chance they’ll make the playoffs.
After the Ravens, the Packers face the Bears, Steelers, Seahawks, and Cardinals.
The Seahawks game is the team’s only remaining home game after Monday, so it would be wise of the Packers to take care of business against the Ravens.
The combined record of the Packers remaining opponents is 27-28. Individually, their records are as follows: Baltimore (6-5), Chicago (4-7), Pittsburgh (6-5), Seattle (4-7), Arizona (7-4).
While none of the Packers remaining opponents are overly impressive, three of them are in playoff races of their own and I’d suggest each one of these games will be hard fought.
