I feel stupid even writing it, because no one knows what King Brett Favre is going to do. Frankly, I could care less. As you may recall, I swore off Brett earlier this season after his conversation with the fine folks up in Detroit. However, I know some of our readers are still firmly planted aboard the Brett Favre bandwagon, so…
ESPN is reporting that Favre may have shoulder problems. Additionally, King Brett hasn’t decided if he’ll return to New York next year (big surprise).
Speculation is that said shoulder problem has contributed to Brett’s crappy play of late. In the past four games, Favre has thrown six INTs and only one touchdown. Three of those games have been losses, and the Jets have gone from power position in the AFC East to needing help to make the playoffs.
As it stands, New York has to beat Miami on Sunday and hope for a New England (at Buffalo) loss to win the division. For a wild card berth, New York has to beat Miami and hope for a Baltimore (vs. Jacksonville) loss.
Most Packers fans will recall that Green Bay’s compensation from the Favre trade will increase if the Jets make the playoffs. So, if for no other reason than that, cheer for one of these scenarios to play out this weekend.
As for Brett, well, it hasn’t been lost on some observers that he’s been outplayed by the guy he replaced in New York – Miami quarterback Chad Pennington.

I hope he retires this time. This comeback has obviously blown up in the Jets’ and Favre’s face and it cost Mangini his job. As we all feared, Favre’s legacy is now tarnished. Not only has he been outplayed by Pennington, but Rodgers as well. Retire Brett!
