First, news from the scrap heap. Word out of Green Bay is the Packers brought in Daunte for a visit today.
Yes, that Daunte. Culpepper – the guy who couldn’t hold on to a job in Miami OR Oakland, and was once, when he was still worth a shit, the leader of the hated Minnesota Vikings.
Hey Ted, let’s maybe look to the draft, see who’s cut in June, or even consider bringing back Craig Nall. All are better options than the old arm roller and his gimpy knees.
Hey, it’s not all bad though. In other news, the Bears still suck.
We knew that, but now they have apparently taken sucking to a new level by not wanting to pay their best defender. No, I am not a fan of pampered athletes who get paid too much and then complain about getting underpaid, but wouldn’t you want to do just about anything to keep your All Pro middle linebacker happy? You know, the guy that is the heart and soul and unquestioned leader of your defense?
Nope. Not if you’re Chicago GM Jerry Angelo, who “doesn’t negotiate through the media.”
Here’s my favorite Angelo line about Urlacher.
“Everything is going well with his rehab [from neck surgery]. We can’t wait to see him. That’s all good news, and that’s what we’re playing on internally.”
I see, so the bad news then is that you’re letting an unpleasant situation with your best player fester by only paying attention to the fact that he’s rehabbing well, rather than acting like a man and talking to him and trying to make him happy.
Good work. Douche.
