Not much has been seen or heard from Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams since he stunk up the field on Thanksgiving night.
Was he hiding? You could say that.
He certainly didn’t want to face the media, but he didn’t have a choice when the Packers returned to practice on Sunday.
So what did Adams, who dropped three passes and got called out by both coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers after the game, have to say for himself?
He started by saying he’s still angry about his performance, then went on to make some excuses about his poor route running. Rodgers has alluded to the idea that Adams’ route running directly contributed to the interception he threw against Chicago.
Adams seems to disagree.
“Each play is different,” Adams said. “It’s not going to be perfect, like we draw it up and do it in practice. Nobody is hitting Aaron. So I’m going to be able to get my depth – do this, do that – and he’s going to be able to throw a better ball than if he’s getting pressure. And I’m going to be able to catch it better than if somebody is over my back.
“It’s not going to be a perfect route every time. It’s not going to be perfect. We’ve got to click on the opportunities that we do have and get on the same page as much as possible.”
You know how we feel about guys who don’t hold themselves accountable…
LOVE THEM!
Regardless of whose fault that one particular play is, we do know this. Adams doesn’t run good routes.
He looks like he’s loafing half the time.
Clearly, someone who’s making excuses for himself isn’t likely to change. We expect little to nothing from Adams anymore.
The Packers just need to stop throwing him the ball.
Problem solved.
