We’re dropping some real football knowledge this morning, courtesy of the Los Angeles Times’ NFL writer, Sam Farmer. Farmer is seriously keyed in and he doesn’t make you want to stab yourself in the eyes when you read his work, like, say, a certain Sports Illustrated writer. In addition to being all over the lockout, […]
After last week’s edition of ESPN’s NFL power rankings, top helmets in the NFL, I half expected this week’s edition to focus on best colors. Of course, they went and pulled something somewhat relevant out — top 10 defensive players. Clay Matthews was the only member of the Green Bay Packers to make the top 10, finishing fifth. Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu was the consensus No. 1.
Green Bay Packers safety Nick Collins came in third in ESPN’s safety Power Rankings. The Pittsburgh Steelers’ Troy Polamalu and Baltimore Ravens’ Ed Reed were unanimous selections for first and second — Polamalu got all the first-place votes and Reed got all the second-place votes. Collins finished 12 points ahead of fourth-place finisher Adrian Wilson of the Arizona Cardinals.
In case you haven’t heard, the Green Bay Packers are playing the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday. As such, I thought it would be a good idea to trade a little info on our respective teams with Chris at Nice Pick, Cowher, one of the best Steelers blogs we’ve seen. And yes, I chose seven questions […]
Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award by two votes over Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews, but Polamalu says he doesn’t deserve the award. After he won the award, Polamalu turned to Twitter with these words. Thanks for the congrats. @jharrison9292 @ClayMatthews52 Ed Reed Julius Peppers way […]
Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews finished second to Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu in the NFL Defensive Player of the Year vote. The award, voted on by the Associated Press, is the NFL’s official award. Early reports from Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune, Bob Glauber of Newsday and your own Green Bay […]
Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews has been talking about getting a hair deal since Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu started popping up in those Head & Shoulders commercials. He finally got his wish. Matthews’ long blond mane is now the spokeshair for Suave. Ryan Williams of Athletes First, Matthews’ marketing agent, said the deal included media appearances […]
Green Bay Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews has been tabbed the defensive player of the year by The Sporting News. Whether that transfers over to the “real” award, which is voted on by the Associated Press, remains to be seen, but Matthews will have some real competition from Pittsburgh Steelers safety Troy Polamalu. That being […]
There was a point in the season when everyone thought the answer to the question was a foregone conclusion. Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews. Then, a series of injuries and near constant double and triple teams started to slow Matthews. That isn’t to say his presence wasn’t felt. Matthews opens things up for his […]
Oh, wait. It was Tony Manero who uttered, “Don’t touch the hair!” Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews may be saying it next, though. We first heard about Matthews’ desire for some sort of hair-related endorsement deal prior to the Packers thrashing of the Dallas Cowboys in an interview with Bob Costas. At the time, […]
If only the NFL could idiot proof the Pro Bowl voting process. You know, make people prove they’re not complete fucking morons before they’re allowed to vote. Obviously, if there were any such measure in place, it didn’t work this year. We told you which way the voting was going last week, and it turned […]
The Green Bay Packers and their next opponent, the Pittsburgh Steelers, are two teams going in opposite directions. December and January was supposed to be the toughest portion of the Packers’ schedule, with Chicago, Baltimore, Pittsburgh and Arizona on the docket. All four were playoff teams last season and a visit to Pittsburgh to play […]
