Green Bay Packers assistant coaches Winston Moss and Darren Perry were supposedly hot coaching commodities during the offseason. Both coaches were mentioned in conjunction with several defensive coordinator openings, but nothing materialized for either. The Packers were lucky to keep both Moss and Perry in their current positions of assistant head coach and safeties coach, respectively, but both were passed over for promotions when defensive coordinator jobs remained open after the Super Bowl.
The Green Bay Packers are near the bottom of the Dallas Morning News’ annual special teams rankings for the third year in a row. They finished 29th, up two spots from last season. The 2008 team finished 26th and special teams coach Mike Stock was forced into retirement after that performance. The rankings are compiled […]
Everything’s comin’ up Milhouse for Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers. First, he gets to bang Jessica Szohr and now he’s been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the New York Giants. Rodgers was 25-of-37 for 404 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions in the Packers’ 45-17 win over […]
Stop the presses, people! There was a Jonas brother at the Green Bay Packers game on Sunday. Specifically, it was Joe. Yeah, I know. I don’t care either. I’ve never heard it, but I’ve been told Joe and his brothers play some sort of bullshit, teeny-bopper music that makes young girls swoon. That being said, […]
The Green Bay Packers closed last season in Phoenix with a game against the Arizona Cardinals. They went back to Arizona the following week for the wild card game. The same scenario could play out again this year, only with the NFC North champion Chicago Bears taking the place of the Cardinals. The Packers face […]
You could say a lot of things about the Green Bay Packers 45-17 victory over the New York Giants. You could say it’s good to have Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback. Rodgers, returning from a concussion, threw for 404 yards and four touchdowns against the No. 2 defense in the league. You could say Giants […]
Steffen: Many are expecting the New York Giants to fall apart this week after a humiliating defeat at the hands of Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles in week 15. I don’t see it playing out that way. The Giants are a veteran team and they have a lot to play for. This is essentially […]
Like betting on black 22, the Green Bay Packers don’t have any real idea what’s going to happen with their outside linebackers when they face the New York Giants, on Sunday. Starter Frank Zombo has essentially been ruled out with a sprained knee. Zombo tried to practice on Friday and the results weren’t promising. Officially, […]
Although he hasn’t missed a game because of it, Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews hasn’t been through a full practice since October because of a shin injury. That changed Wednesday, when Matthews participated in 11-on-11 drills in full pads for the first time since before the Jets game. Since the Jets game, which is […]
If the Green Bay Packers win their final two games, they’re in the playoffs as a wild card, this we know. However, there’s another, much-more-convoluted scenario where the Packers could still make it. First, the Packers need to beat the New York Giants, this week. If they lose to the Giants, it doesn’t matter what […]
The Green Bay Packers will have their catalyst when they face the New York Giants in their biggest game of the season, this week. Aaron Rodgers is set to return from a concussion-induced one-game absence, according to Jason Wilde. Yes, after seeing his 46-game consecutive starts streak (including playoffs) snapped when he was inactive for […]
The Green Bay Packers will face either a fired up New York Giants team this weekend or a New York Giants team in disarray. Hell, maybe both. The Giants took an epic loss on Sunday, blowing a 21-point fourth quarter lead to the division rival Philadelphia Eagles. Put the Packers in place of the Giants […]
It’s just that simple for the Green Bay Packers. Despite the loss to the New England Patriots dropping them to 8-6, the Packers simply need to win their last two games to make the playoffs as a wild card. The Chicago Bears will clinch the NFC North with a win tonight against the Joe Webb-led […]
A fitting metaphor for their season. The shithole that the Minnesota Vikings call home, the Metrodome, collapsed overnight. Or at least the roof did. There is now a hole in the middle of it from the build-up of snow — the Cities reportedly got close to 20 inches yesterday. The Vikings game against the New […]
After the Green Bay Packers gave Aaron Stecker a tryout two weeks ago, we speculated that the team might be interested in bringing return man/safety Will Blackmon back. They won’t get that opportunity. Blackmon, who was among the Packers’ final roster cuts, was signed by the New York Giants. Blackmon tore his ACL early in […]
National Football Post founder and former Green Bay Packers vice president Andrew Brandt has written a few posts about free agency in the NFL, recently. The short of his message is this: it usually doesn’t work out. One of the exceptions to the rule, however, was the Packers signing of cornerback Charles Woodson. As we […]
The Green Bay Packers finally made their big offseason free agent signing by bringing in safety Charlie Peprah, who was with the team from 2006-08 before spending last year with the Atlanta Falcons. Peprah notched one tackle in two games for Atlanta in 2009. He was released by the Packers following training camp, last season. […]
