The Green Bay Packers have locked up right guard Josh Sitton for the next six years, signing the offensive lineman to a five-year extension. Sitton is the first of a trio of extension targets to sign.
The Green Bay Packers have more salary cap space than all but 11 other teams. Why didn’t they use it to sign any big-ticket free agents? They have three core players who are in line for contract extensions.
Green Bay Packers players riding local kids bikes to and from practice is one of the coolest things about training camp. Getting up close with these Packers has taught us things about Nick Collins appetite, Jermichael Finley’s chances of injuring himself and Josh Sitton’s hair, among other things. Check out the gallery and see what you think.
The Green Bay Packers had varied reactions to the events of the past two days that say the owners approve a new labor deal and the players choose not to vote. They ranged from rational to stupid. Here they are.
As we told you last week, the Green Bay Packers offensive linemen worked out together near Nashville for three days this week. Tackle Chad Clifton and center Scott Wells, who organized the get together, live in the area. What we didn’t know until today, is who actually showed up.
It looks like the Green Bay Packers offensive linemen are taking the lead on organized workouts during the lockout. Although they won’t include any players other than those protecting quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Packers linemen will be the first group on the team to get together for any sort of team-oriented activity since the lockout started.
Awkward silence, anyone? The 2011 NFL lockout may be in full swing, but that didn’t stop Green Bay Packers players and brass from spending five days on a bus together this week for the annual Packers Tailgate Tour across Upper Michigan and Wisconsin. According to The Associated Press, coach Mike McCarthy, general manager Ted Thompson and several other staff members saw the bus off Tuesday.
Seven Green Bay Packers made CBSSports.com senior writer Pete Prisco’s top 100 NFL players of 2011 list. The top-ranked Packer should come as no surprise. QB Aaron Rodgers came in at No. 6 overall — behind Texans wideout Andre Johnson, Raiders cornerback Nmandi Asomugha, Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware and (puke) quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton […]
The NFL and their rules are stupid. Here we are in the midst of a lockout, the players no longer have a functioning union, they’re suing the league and the rules dictate players cannot talk to coaches or team executives. Players cannot be at team facilities. No offseason programs can be conducted. Team executives cannot […]
After the Green Bay Packers’ loss to the Atlanta Falcons, we were quick to point out the offensive line’s ineffectual run blocking. It was pretty clear after the loss that everyone not named Josh Sitton was struggling in the running game and the stats backed it up. The Packers showed improvement against an inferior opponent […]
The Green Bay Packers offensive line has been getting a lot of positive hype this season, primarily because they’ve kept quarterback Aaron Rodgers off his ass, for the most part. Indeed, the Packers offensive line has improved in pass protection. They’ve allowed only 21 sacks so far this year, which is the 12th fewest in […]
We’ve somehow made it through eight weeks of the NFL season and you know what that means — every dickhead with column space is handing out their midseason awards, naming All-Pro teams, etc. What does a midseason award get you? Not a goddam thing, but the stats tells me people like to read about them, […]
No one would have considered the Green Bay Packers offensive line a strength last season, particularly in the first half. Part of the reason was the ineffectiveness of right tackle Allen Barbre, who was eventually replaced by Mark Tauscher. Another factor was injuries. Chad Clifton missed several games, forcing left guard Daryn Colledge and later […]
On Wednesday, Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Brandon Underwood made two apologies — one in private to his teammates for causing a distraction and one in public to reporters. Underwood did not take questions during the media session, but did reiterate what he told teammates, specifically the six players who were questioned as part of the […]
Never trust a whore. Those of us who dally in the arts — the art of picking up broads, that is — know it well, and now Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Brandon Underwood knows it, too. As expected, Underwood will not be charged with sexual assault, but he may be charged with solicitation of prostitution. […]
Green Bay Packers’ second-year cornerback Brandon Underwood is the player under investigation for a sexual assault that allegedly took place in Lake Delton this weekend, the Journal Sentinel reports. The alleged incident took place Saturday morning during a party at the Wilderness Resort Golf Cabins, after Clay Matthews hosted The McGovern Charity Golf Tournament in […]
From the You’re A Rich Athlete, Watch Your Ass Files comes this number: several members of the Green Bay Packers were interviewed as part of the investigation of two alleged sexual assaults at a Lake Delton condo. The incident apparently took place early Saturday morning, after The McGovern Charity Golf Tournament held in nearby Wisconsin […]
I can’t say I was overly impressed with the selection of TCU’s Marshall Newhouse, who the Green Bay Packers selected with their second fifth-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. Newhouse played left tackle in college, but projects as a guard in the NFL. With Josh Sitton entrenched at right guard, Jason Spitz and Daryn […]
The news isn’t earth-shattering, but Green Bay Packers’ offensive lineman and restricted free agent Jason Spitz has signed his tender and reported for the team’s offseason program. The deal will pay him $1.76 million for the 2010 season. Spitz will compete with Daryn Colledge – also a restricted free agent – for the starting left […]
The Green Bay Packers have more than a few questions along the offensive line entering the season. One of them is where second-year man T.J. Lang will play. While most of us expect him to compete for and eventually take over the right tackle spot, Packers’ coach Mike McCarthy doesn’t necessarily agree. “There’s a difference […]
