The Green Bay Packers strapped on the pads and went full contact for the first time Monday night. Rookie Derek Sherrod was hit and miss at left guard, B.J. Raji looks dominant and the quarterbacks are still trying to find their rhythm.
The Green Bay Packers lost left guard Daryn Colledge today and defensive end Cullen Jenkins and receiver James Jones will likely be off the market before the day is over.
Although teams can’t begin signing free agents until Friday, this is the second day they could negotiate with them. Several clubs took advantage and reached agreements with players. The Green Bay Packers jumped into the fray by reaching an agreement with Mason Crosby. Here are today’s developments that could impact the Packers’ quest to repeat […]
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers says receiver James Jones should be the team’s No. 1 priority in free agency. It’s doubtful general manager Ted Thompson agrees.
Green Bay Packers receiver Donald Driver isn’t about to hand over his starting spot to Jordy Nelson or anyone else, saying he’s earned it. The question is whether he can keep it in what are probably the final two years of his career.
Now that we know who the Green Bay Packers unrestricted free agents will be, we can tell you who’s likely to be back and who isn’t. For several players, the writing is on the wall — they’ve played their last game with the Packers. Here’s a look at who’s likely coming back and who’s likely […]
A new collective bargaining agreement could be coming soon, which means the godforsaken lockout, court cases and he said/she said bullshit that has been this NFL offseason might finally be over. Commissioner Roger Goodell presented the details of the proposed labor agreement to the owners on Tuesday. Although no vote was taken, the details make […]
The NFL Draft changes the face of every team’s roster and the Green Bay Packers are no exception, even though they’re the reigning Super Bowl champs. Several veterans will go into training camp to fight for a roster spot, while others will simply be let go during free agency. Here’s a look at which players […]
Despite initial reports to the contrary, the Green Bay Packers did tender potential restricted free agents James Jones and Brandon Jackson, last week.
Both Jones and Jackson have four years of service. Under the rules of the 2010 collective bargaining agreement, they would be restricted free agents. Under the rules of the previous agreement, they would be unrestricted, which is probably what they’ll be when a new labor deal is signed this year.
When the Green Bay Packers were handing out what’s largely expected to be meaningless tenders to guys who have little-to-no chance of being restricted free agents when a new labor deal is reached, they also snubbed a few guys. Receiver James Jones, running back Brandon Jackson and safety Atari Bigby, all of whom would […]
The Green Bay Packers are made some strange moves on Wednesday, when they tendered free-agents-to-be guard Daryn Colledge, kicker Mason Crosby and fullback John Kuhn.
Colledge and Crosby received second-round tenders and Kuhn received the lowest tender.
Here’s why all none of this makes any sense.
The Green Bay Packers will go into this year’s NFL Draft with a roster that doesn’t have a lot of holes.
The team could use upgrades in two key areas, though. The Packers still don’t have a pass-rush threat at linebacker opposite Clay Matthews and could also use help along the offensive line.
Green Bay Packers receiver James Jones is likely to have some suitors once free agency begins, providing the new collective bargaining agreement allows him to become a free agent as expected.
Jones’ name has already been mentioned in Cleveland, where the Browns have one of the worst receiving corps in the league.
We surmised that receiver James Jones would be at or near the top of the list for a new contract after the Green Bay Packers re-signed Desmond Bishop to a long-term deal, but that may not be the case. Word is, the Packers are debating whether Jones is worth a long-term investment. The reason isn’t […]
With Desmond Bishop receiving a contact extension, defensive end Cullen Jenkins should be the top priority for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers have several key players who are scheduled to be free agents under the current system, which is expected to be extended at some point. In addition to Jenkins, they include fullbacks John […]
I think we can all agree, thanks to the Green Bay Packers, we can stick a fork in the Minnesota Vikings. They’re dead. Their season is officially over after the Packers thoroughly dominated them and old man Brett Favre in a 31-3 victory at the Metrodome. None of us thought it would be as easy […]
The New York Jets will have their best defender, cornerback Darrelle Revis, back at full strength for their match-up with the Green Bay Packers, this Sunday — something that isn’t good news for the team’s passing attack. The Jets are coming off a bye and Revis says he’s 100 percent for the first time since […]
The Green Bay Packers finally pulled out a close game and in doing so, ended the curse of Brett Favre, beating the Minnesota Vikings 28-24. The Packers sit in a tie with the Chicago Bears atop the NFC North with the Chicago Bears at 4-3. Although the Packers defense gave up plenty of yards — […]
One last item on Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy’s lost challenge in the Monday night loss to the Chicago Bears before we move on. As you know, it was the wrong move to challenge, and we detailed the consequences yesterday. McCarthy threw the challenge flag on James Jones’ fumble — which was recovered by […]
The Green Bay Packers look like a poorly-coached football team again, but forget about the team-record penalties and the special teams breakdowns for a second. The Packers may have had a chance to win or tie the Chicago Bears on Monday night if it weren’t for what I would term two terrible coaching decisions by […]
