Despite all evidence to the contrary — the fact that he started and played extremely well at the position against Chicago — Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy says Clay Matthews is not an inside linebacker.
“Clay Matthews is not an inside linebacker,” McCarthy said. “He’s a football player.”
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Of course.
Matthews had a team-leading 11 tackles and a sack while playing inside linebacker against the Bears. It was by far his best game of the season. It was also the best game by any inside linebacker on the Packers roster this season.
But Clay Matthews is not an inside linebacker! He’s a football player!
Yeah, yeah. We get it.
Let’s not damage Clay’s fragile ego by pigeonholing him into that position. Matthews is really a pass rushing outside linebacker, which is much sexier!
Mark Gastineau did not get Brigitte Nielsen by tackling running backs! He got her by sacking the goddam QB!
Let’s not tip off the Packers upcoming opponents, either. Matthews may play inside linebacker or he may play outside. He’ll be playing where football players play! So figure that out, jerks!
Mwhahahahahahahahahaha!
Ah, the genius of Mike McCarthy. It has no bounds.
Just sit back and admire it with awe.
