No one around the Green Bay Packers really wants to talk about the debacle in Seattle last January.
It doesn’t matter, they say. This is a new team, they say.
Perhaps.
Linebacker Clay Matthews had probably the most forthcoming quote of the week so far, though.
“It’s not as if we win this game, all is forgotten,” Packers linebacker Clay Matthews said Wednesday. “I’m sure there’s some extra motivation for some, but the reality is it’s a very good team and it’s a new season and they have the same weapons we saw last year. It should be a fun game. I know it’s what the fans are looking for, and it’s a good test to see where we’re at, where they’re at early on.”
See that?
He started to actually say something and then went into total cliche mode.
If anyone has extra motivation, it should be Matthews, who quit on his teammates late in that NFC Championship shit show.
And yeah, he may pretend like us calling him out for being a quitter doesn’t bother him, but we know otherwise.
Frankly, that son of a bitch better go out there and gnaw Russell Wilson’s face off and then rip Marshawn Lynch’s head off and shit down his neck hole on Sunday night. Then maybe we’ll begin to forgot about him standing on the sideline as his mates imploded in front of our eyes.
