We usually don’t post stuff about guys who work out for the Green Bay Packers. The Packers simply don’t sign many of them, but Graham Harrell is an interesting case.
If you recall, Harrell was Texas Tech’s quarterback in 2008, when he absolutely torched the Big 12, throwing for 5,111 yards and 45 touchdowns. He was also a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.
All of that got Harrell nothing. He went undrafted and attended the Cleveland Browns’ rookie camp, but wasn’t signed. Harrell ended up playing for the CFL’s Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2009 and they subsequently released him in this April.
Certainly, Harrell was somewhat a product of Texas Tech’s pass-happy offensive attack, but the guy didn’t throw for 5,000 yards by accident.
Word is, Harrell will work out for the Packers this week.
While we’d be willing to bet his chances of sticking with the Packers are slim, Harrell is indeed an interesting name for a Packers team that didn’t carry a third quarterback in 2009.
