Seven Green Bay Packers made CBSSports.com senior writer Pete Prisco’s top 100 NFL players of 2011 list. The top-ranked Packer should come as no surprise. QB Aaron Rodgers came in at No. 6 overall — behind Texans wideout Andre Johnson, Raiders cornerback Nmandi Asomugha, Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware and (puke) quarterbacks Tom Brady and Peyton […]
Both of the Green Bay Packers starting cornerbacks, Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams, made ESPN’s cornerback power rankings list. Woodson finished third and Williams finished seventh. Not surprisingly, the top two in the rankings were the New York Jets’ Darrelle Revis and the Oakland Raiders’ Nnamdi Asomugha, who received all the first and second place votes.
Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson released a statement in support of Wisconsin workers over the weekend. Here it is in its entirety. Last week I was proud when many of my current and former teammates announced their support for the working families fighting for their rights in Wisconsin. Today I am honored to join […]
The Green Bay Packers got to control the world for a minute.
At least that was Charles Woodson’s assessment of what it meant to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange, which Woodson, teammates John Kuhn, Ryan Grant and Packers president Mark Murphy did, yesterday.
President Barack Obama flew into Green Bay this morning for an appearance and speech in Manitowoc. When he landed, the Chicago Bears fan was the recipient of two Green Bay Packers jerseys. The second, which is pictured above, was Charles Woodson’s No. 21 with the following personally signed message. “To President Obama See you at […]
I like Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson more every day. Woodson gave a rousing post-game locker room speech to the rest of the Packers after they beat the Chicago Bears on Sunday. At the end, Woodson takes a shot at president Barack Obama, who’s a Bears fan. Obama said he would attend the Super […]
Earlier this fall, I gathered some of my friends together. The goal: sample some of Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson’s wine. If you don’t know the story, Woodson owns a winery in Napa Valley — TwentyFour Wines. Woodson got into wine and bought the vineyard when he played for the Oakland Raiders, hence the […]
Another week, another player of the week award for the Green Bay Packers. Cornerback Charles Woodson captured the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week award, an award he won twice last season, for his play against Detroit. Woodson recorded 14 tackles and returned an interception for a touchdown against the Lions in his best game […]
The Green Bay Packers have locked up cornerback Charles Woodson for an additional two years. Woodson, the reigning NFL defensive player of the year, has three years remaining on his current deal. He will be 39 if he plays out the full contract, which seems unlikely. The deal is worth $55 million over the next […]
Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson does not get burned on the football field, but that’s nothing compared to what Woodson went through last weekend. Woodson escaped a house fire in Bay Harbor, Michigan after a party being held to celebrate the homeowner’s family gift to, and naming of, the University of Michigan Women’s Hospital. […]
National Football Post founder and former Green Bay Packers vice president Andrew Brandt has written a few posts about free agency in the NFL, recently. The short of his message is this: it usually doesn’t work out. One of the exceptions to the rule, however, was the Packers signing of cornerback Charles Woodson. As we […]
Despite reports to the contrary yesterday, Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Charles Woodson says he hasn’t asked the team for a new contract. The initial report came from Josina Anderson of Fox 31 in Denver. At the time, I wondered what the hell someone in Denver knew about Charles Woodson and the Packers. Now, the answer […]
This comes as a bit of a surprise, but the Green Bay Packers and cornerback Charles Woodson are reportedly discussing a new contract. I say it’s a bit of a surprise because, although Woodson is coming off perhaps his finest season, he’ll be 34 this year and still has three years left on his current […]
The NFL announced its 2000s All-Decade Team on Sunday during the Pro Bowl that me and no one else watched, and two Green Bay Packers made the squad. Actually, we should say one member of the Green Bay Packers and one former Packer. They were cornerback Charles Woodson and safety Darren Sharper. After playing eight […]
In news that should really surprise no one, cornerback Charles Woodson is the Green Bay Packers lone member of the NFL All-Pro team. The All-Pro team is voted on my members of the Associated Press and made up of the top players from both conferences, unlike the Pro Bowl, which separates the squads into AFC […]
Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year on Tuesday by a wide margin. On Wednesday, he picked up the Sporting News’ NFL defensive player of the year award, which is voted on by 636 players, coaches and executives. Woodson again finished first by a wide margin, receiving 241 […]
Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson put the question to rest today. He’s the NFL Defensive Player of the Year and he won by a wide margin over New York Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Woodson received 28 votes to Revis’ 14. The Denver Broncos’ Elvis Dumervil and the New Orleans Saints’ Darren Sharper tied for […]
Green Bay Packers cornerback Charles Woodson was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Month for December, the third time he’s won the honor this season. Woodson also won the award in September and November. New Orleans Saints safety Darren Sharper won the award in October. This is the first time anyone has ever won […]
We’ve handed Green Bay Packers’ cornerback Charles Woodson the defensive player of the year award already, but noted that his strongest competition is likely to come from New York Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis. Well, after the last two weeks, it appears the race isn’t quite over, and in fact, is probably closer than we imagine. […]
It isn’t the first time I’ve heard it, but it bears mentioning because of the context it comes in – Charles Woodson did not want to play for the Green Bay Packers. That shouldn’t come as much of surprise. I don’t really want to spend any time in Green Bay either, unless it’s for a […]
