B.J. Raji went and tested the market after the Green Bay Packers offered him a one-year, $4 million deal just before free agency opened. Ultimately, he found what we expected he’d find — jack shit — and came back and signed the very same offer on Friday.
One year, $4 million.
Raji was not in demand on the open market. The only team other than the Packers to show any interest was the Oakland Raiders, who are helmed by former Packers exec Reggie McKenzie.
And that’s no surprise to anyone except maybe Raji and his agent. Raji had a turd of a season in 2013, with just 19 tackles and no sacks for the second consecutive season. We’d argue that Raji hasn’t played well since 2010. Certainly not up to the level of a No. 9 overall draft pick, which he is.
And this tool turned down $8 million annually from the Packers during the season. All that fat must have gone from his ass to his head.
Maybe if the Packers move Raji back to nose tackle, his production will improve. It really couldn’t get much worse. Ryan Pickett played the nose last season and Raji played defensive end. Pickett is also a free agent and his days in green and gold look like they’re over.
