Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ injured calf is more than just a strain. Adam Schefter is reporting it has a slight tear in addition to the strain.
Now, we all know Rodgers is playing on Sunday. He’s said so and coach Mike McCarthy has said so.
No one has any illusions that Rodgers will be 100 percent by game time. He hadn’t practiced through Wednesday and the Packers have been treating the injury aggressively.
The real question is how mobile Rodgers will be. And the answer is, probably not very.
That being said, we’re not real worried. Rodgers beat a much stronger defense in week 17 than he’ll be facing on Sunday. And he did so after aggravating the injury during the game AND having it stepped on in separate incidents.
Rodgers’ health could also put the offensive focus more on running back Eddie Lacy. If you remember back to 2010, Rodgers had a very successful playoff run — one that he hasn’t duplicated since. He also had a lot of help from James Starks, who totaled 315 yards rushing in those four games.
