The day we have all been waiting for is finally here. That is the day that Jordy Nelson returns.
While he hasn’t actually done anything yet, the Green Bay Packers cleared their No. 1 receiver on Wednesday after he passed a physical. That means he’s also been taken off the physically unable to perform list. Only center Corey Linsley remains there.
It’s been a long road for Nelson and Packers fans alike.
Nelson tore his ACL last August and missed the entire season. That was one factor in the Packers’ subpar 2015 passing attack.
Although he insisted he’d be ready for training camp, Nelson showed up with tendinitis in his non-surgically-repaired knee. He was one of six players put on the PUP list the day camp opened.
We do not expect Nelson to play when the Packers face Oakland on Thursday night. If Nelson plays at all during the preseason — and he may not — it will most likely be slight action in week 3.
Now, Nelson just needs to complete the small task of returning to his 2014 form and everything will be right again.
