Like you, we’d really love to see what a healthy Ty Montgomery can do on the football field.
When will that day come?
It’s pretty clear it won’t come this week. In fact, Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy made it seem like that moment won’t be coming anytime soon.
“He’s not making progress,” McCarthy said on Monday. “You try to reach different thresholds and he’s not getting there.”
Montgomery sprained his ankle in week 6 when the Packers played San Diego. He hasn’t played since.
How he’s not making any progress at all has us befuddled, though.
Seemingly, the only way someone wouldn’t make progress with an injury is if that injury was misdiagnosed.
We’re not saying that’s what happened here, but if it had, it wouldn’t be the first time the Packers have bungled this sort of situation. They’ve already misinterpreted Montgomery’s injury.
At first, it was your garden variety ankle sprain. A couple weeks ago it suddenly got labeled as the more severe high-ankle sprain.
So how long before we learn that Montgomery actually tore some ligaments?
Whatever is going on, we’re not holding our breath that he’ll return. Putting Montgomery on injured reserve now seems like a possibility for when the Packers are ready to activate Andrew Quarless.
