You know the one. The one depicts the Green Bay Packers’ slow, painful meltdown against the Seattle Seahawks. Mike McCarthy has watched it. In fact, he can’t get enough of it.
The Packers’ coach says that not only are he and his staff not shying away from looking at that game to figure out how they can improve, but McCarthy has watched it again and again.
“That’s part of your scheme evaluation,” McCarthy said. “We have done it as a staff. We cut up every situation, so we’ve seen those plays from that game a number of times from our scheme evaluation.”
All of this goes into planning and building the playbook for 2015, which is what has been happening over the past couple months.
McCarthy went on to mention that he’s also watched the TV broadcast of the game in addition to the coach’s film.
While we have no desire to relive that debacle again, it’s certainly a good sign that the coaches aren’t shying away from it. The biggest question after that game was are the Packers going to let this disappointment affect next season?
We’re fairly confident the answer is going to be no. In fact, it appears as if it will make them better prepared than they’ve been in the past.
