Green Bay Packers cornerback Sam Shields had a game to forget against Atlanta and that’s putting it mildly.
Another way to put it would be this. Sam Shields was fucking awful against Atlanta. Pure garbage.
Ah, but Sam Shields has got some excuses for you. What are we talking about, Sam?
It just makes me giddy every time some idiot cites practice as a reason for not playing well. Because yes, I love to roll out the Allen Iverson video. Because we talkin’ about practice. Not the game! We talkin’ about practice.
But that’s what Shields blamed his poor performance on last week. No reps in practice.
He didn’t get any reps because he was going through the concussion protocol.
“I needed a couple reps,” Shields said. “That probably would’ve helped out. It happens. I was in there, I got back on the field (and) that was the most important part. I’m getting reps this week and I’ll be ready for Buffalo.”
Then here’s where he says he didn’t have a bad game.
“I don’t think I had a bad game or anything like that,” he said. “I think it was solid for the reps I did get. One ball over the top that he caught out of bounds that was supposed to be a touchdown. That was my fault. (Stuff) happens. It’s football. He’s a great receiver. He’s in the NFL, too.”
Solid for the reps he got…
Because more practice reps would have been the difference maker…
What are we talking about? Practice?
