Mr. R-E-L-A-X is taking the blame for the Green Bay Packers’ craptacular offensive performance against the Buffalo Bills. Aaron Rodgers openly admitted that he should have played better in the game, on Tuesday.
Rodgers misfired on a career-high 25 passes, going 17 of 42 for 185 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions on the day. His rating (34.3) and completion percentage (40.5) were also career lows.
So you could easily say Rodgers just had the worst game of his NFL career.
“It was just disappointing because I missed a few of them by more than I wanted to, but I felt good about the ball coming off,” he said. “It was just a little bit off. It was one of those days.
“As an offense we were a little out of sync, and then obviously it didn’t help some of the throws I made, but we had some opportunities. We had some opportunities to convert some third downs, to make some plays, and we didn’t do it. So we all look squarely in the mirror, and we’re very self-critical — myself as much as anybody.”
That’s what a leader does. He takes the blame when his team sucks it up and the Packers obviously did a lot of that on Sunday. Packers’ receivers were also responsible for seven drops, which ESPN says is the most by any team in any game since 2008.
So you could easily say the Packers’ receivers just played the worst game played by any receiving corps in seven years. Way to go guys!
Finally, we’d again like to point out that if Buffoon would have run the ball more, instead of having Rodgers throw 42 times, things may have been different. While both Rodgers and his receivers were sucking buffalo taint, running back Eddie Lacy was tearing it up.
Lacy had 97 yards on just 15 carries, which is a gaudy 6.5 yards per carry.
But why hand him the ball more often? I mean, let’s just do what clearly isn’t working because eventually it has to work!
