Aaron Rodgers has been on some pretty good Green Bay Packers teams.
There was the Super Bowl team in 2010, which was a team that finished the regular season 10-6. There was the 15-1 squad in 2011 that took a giant dump in the playoffs, losing their first game.
Where does this team fall?
The Packers’ quarterback says its too early to say this is the best team he’s been on.
“Hopefully we’ll look back and say this was our best team to date,” Rodgers said. “But that will only be the case if we can take it all the way.”
He’s right about that.
I know we’re all excited about beating the Patriots, but regular season wins mean jack shit at the end of the day in Green Bay. Playoff wins are all that matters.
What Rodgers would concede is that this Packers team is the most mature that he’s seen.
“We’re not having a lot of fines and stuff and guys being late or not being where they’re supposed to be,” Rodgers said. “It’s a very focused team. It’s a combination of the young guys we brought in, but also the veteran guys and the urgency that kind of we’re trying to portray how important this opportunity is and how they don’t come along like this all the time. We’ve won eight of out nine; we’ve got a good thing going. We’ve got to keep it rolling.”
Indeed.
What we can tell you is that it’s an exciting time to be a fan.
Think about the past two years. Maybe you didn’t want to admit it, but we all knew the Packers weren’t going anywhere. Maybe they’d win one playoff game if they were lucky.
This year — feels a little different, doesn’t it?
