Packers Have Signed Letroy Guion

Letroy Guion

Look at the Green Bay Packers just killing everyone else in the free agent game! For the second time in a span of three days, the Packers have done the unthinkable. They have, 1. signed a free agent who last played for another team and, 2. signed a free agent who might actually make the final roster. Today’s lucky signee is defensive lineman Letroy Guion.

He got a meager one-year deal that will pay him $985,000.

Now we’re going to compare Guion to Gilbert Brown. Is he going to be as good as The Gravedigger? Well, we’re not going to say that. But he played for the Minnesota Vikings, and Brown is the only guy we can remember that has gone from the Vikings to the Packers.

As you know, that’s because the Vikings suck. Former Packers go play for the Vikings all the time when they’re good and used up, but rarely the other way around.

We’re going to have to chalk this signing up to Vikings stupidity. Clearly, they’re missing something in Guion or they would have re-signed him themselves. The Packers, possessing the superior football minds, obviously see what the Vikings are missing.

The Packers weren’t the only team that saw it either. The Ravens and Patriots were also interested in Guion, who had 21 tackles and a sack in 2013.

The addition of Guion gives the Packers plenty of bodies on the defensive line. It probably also puts the final nail in the coffin for Ryan Pickett, who’s a free agent.

With Guion on board, we don’t see room for one last hurrah for Pickett.

I’m loving that we’re taking FA’s from the NFC North rivals instead of the other way around.

    Think Greg Jennings is jealous?

Someone needs to put out an APB on the crack queen that kidnapped Ted on Friday and has him whacked out on the pipe ever since.

Jesus Christ, two free agents in three days? I can only imagine what that woman is doing to him. Bitch has got to be slingin’ the fine his way often make him write checks like this.

She may be the #1 Packer fan of all time who just decided to take matters into her own hands.

I am curious to learn how much they paid him. But not worried about it. I don’t know much about him. Hopefully he’s worth his contract.

Pickett and CJ Wilson are clearly gone. This is just the Packers continuing to get taller (6’4″), longer, and more athletic on their defensive line.

Guion is a solid, not spectacular, player who the Vikings overpaid in the hopes he would turn into a Pro Bowler. He never did. As such, he becomes a cap casualty and falls to the Pack.

He is still young (26) and may make a better 3-4 DE than a 4-3 DT.

Not sure how I feel about this–ex Vikings wearing Green and Gold. I will stomach it if he makes a difference.

he’ s coming on the cheap. per Demovsky – “It was a one-year contract that could be worth up to $1 million. It includes a $100,000 signing bonus and a base salary of $730,000 plus weekly roster bonuses for every game in which he is active.” Maybe we hold on to him for one year, draft & develop his replacement, and if he really gets after it, sign him as a backup for two more years.

I don’t think Pickett is gone, well not yet. We have no “nose” except for BJ Raji on the team. Signing a DE at 315 lbs is great because you may have improved the depth at DE but I still feel we need to draft a true “nose” or grab one fairly early in the draft. So, don’t count Pickett out just yet…worst case, I doubt anyone would rush to sign Pickett and he’s a possible insurance policy as a street Free Agent next season. Pickett on call? “Spill it Pickett” clamors Clay Matthews….
