We’re not too excited about the San Francisco 49ers coming to town this week, largely due to their recent success against the Green Bay Packers.
There are a couple positives about the game, though.
First, the Packers will be about as healthy as they’ve been in some time. The only player who has been ruled out of Sunday’s contest is linebacker Clay Matthews and that comes as no surprise.
Everyone else on the roster practiced on Thursday. That includes running back Eddie Lacy, who has only been practicing on Friday the past three weeks because of bum ankle.
Linebackers Brad Jones, Mike Neal and Nick Perry were limited, but they also practiced. Jones missed last Sunday’s game with the Bears. Jamari Lattimore didn’t fare terribly well in his place.
While Neal started last week, Perry didn’t, even though he played. Andy Mulumba started opposite Neal and had trouble holding the edge against the run.
Although Perry is nothing to write home about, he’s better at that facet of the game than Mulumba.
The other potential positive for the Packers is it’s going to be freezing cold on Sunday. We’re talking a high of zero and a low of -18. It’s supposed to get down to -30 with wind chill.
We don’t know how much of an advantage that will give the Packers — both teams are playing in the same conditions, but you would think the Packers would be a bit more used to elements like that.
