Eddie Lacy

Eddie Lacy practiced for the Green Bay Packers for the first time on Friday since spraining his ankle against Atlanta. It looks like he’ll play this week, but he could be in line for fewer carries.

Lacy hurt his ankle on the final play of the first half on a meaningless run, last week. He returned in the second half, but he missed two series and complained after the game that he couldn’t push off as well as he normally does.

Lacy sounded a little more upbeat today.

“Right now, after practice today, I feel good,” Lacy said Friday. “I still have 48 hours left, so it’s definitely going to help between now and game time.”

Lacy is officially listed as probable on the injury report.

Still, the Packers may lighten Lacy’s load a bit this week. That would mean more James Starks.

“I have no problem giving the ball to James 20 times if that’s the way it shakes out,” McCarthy said. “I like our running-back situation right now.”

Lacy has 227 carries on the season so far. He’s had eight games of 20 or more carries. Starks has just 65 carries on the season and hasn’t had more than 10 in a game since week three.

Honestly, Starks has looked great in limited action this season. I’d like to see him get the start against the Cowboy’s crappy D. They’re not so great at filling the gaps and, unlike Lacy, Starks can take it the distance if he gets to the second level.

We will need to ride with these horses all game long in order to limit Dallas time of possession and scoring.

All respect to Lacy, and how he gets his own yardage because he’s beast. Last Sunday the O line couldn’t open a hole and it showed.

When the O line can actually open a hole, thats when Starks shines.

I don’t know if anyone knows this. But Starks is 2nd in the league in ypc tied with D Murry of Dallas at 5.3 for rb’s with at least 65 rushing attempts. Only behind the NFL leader Andre Ellington of Arizona at 5.8
