Rookie running back Johnathan Franklin’s season is over. The Green Bay Packers placed him on injured reserve today.
To fill Franklin’s roster spot, they promoted linebacker Victor Aiyewa from the practice squad. Aiyewa is an undrafted guy from Washington. The Packers signed him on October 15 and he previously spent time with Tampa Bay.
The Franklin move comes as somewhat of a surprise. He suffered a concussion during last Sunday’s game with Minnesota. That’s not usually something that ends a guy’s season.
Franklin will finish the season with 107 yards and a touchdown. Since rushing for 103 yards against Cincinnati, Franklin has pretty much become the forgotten man.
Just about every week, someone on the Packers would say the team needs to get Franklin more involved and then it would never happen. He had just six carries after the Cincinnati game.
You kind of have to wonder how Franklin is ever going to get any carries with the way Eddie Lacy and James Starks are playing.
