Jermichael Finley took a nasty hit on Sunday and had to be taken off the field on a gurney. It turns out he was taken to intensive care and spent the night there.
Finley was unable to move after a hit delivered by Browns safety Tashaun Gipson, other than to wave his hand while he was being carted off the field. The hit left Finley with a neck injury and no feeling in his extremities.
So far, tests have been negative and he’s regained almost all of his movement.
“He couldn’t move at the time,” said Andrew Quarless. “So I just told him, ‘Just stay here, just lay here, don’t move.'”
“That look he had in his eyes, that was something that stuck with me,” said Quarless, who said he shed a tear at the time. “It really hurt me just to see him like that. My brother was out there on the ground.”
Obviously, this is pretty bad news for Finley and the Green Bay Packers.
Finley suffered a concussion in week three after a hit to the head. A neck injury is a different story though. Neck injuries end careers. Just ask Nick Collins.
For the Packers, the hits just keep coming. The depleted group of pass catchers is now going to be without one of their biggest weapons, we’re guessing, for some time.
