Remember: the Detroit Lions are Dirty Thugs
The Minnesota Vikings are total scumbags. The Chicago Bears are a bunch of chokers. That kind of makes you forget the Detroit Lions are a bunch of dirty thugs.
When they’re not getting arrested — a category they lead the league in over the past two years — they’re doing stupid shit on the field. Unfortunately, the Lions no longer have the legendary Titus Young on their team. He once punched one of his own teammates. Later, he purposefully sabotaged a play in protest because he wasn’t getting the ball enough. Then he got arrested a bunch of times.
This the Detroit Lions way under that idiot Jim Schwartz who, himself, once got in a fight with the only other guy who’s a bigger dick among NFL head coaches — Jim Harbaugh.
And we haven’t even gotten to the biggest turd of the bunch. That would be defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
You’ll remember him as the piece of shit who stomped on Evan Dietrich-Smith on Thanksgiving in 2011. And then he denied doing it after the game because he’s just that swell of a cat.
Suh has been fined multiple times by the NFL for his bullshit, including a whopping $100,000 for a low block on the Vikings John Sullivan in week one. Because Suh is the kind of guy who will go for your knees when you’re not looking.
Fortunately, the Packers aren’t the Lions and they’re well aware of all of this crap.
“We just have to be smart,” Packers left guard Josh Sitton said. “When that stuff happens, we need to let them know that we’re not going to take it, but we can’t be getting into it after the whistle and things like that. Just play above it and play smart. I think if we go out there and dictate to them the tempo and how we’re going to play, then we’ll be just fine.”
So, of course the Lions are all talking about cleaning up their act and playing clean football, but that seems to just be a bunch of blather. They’re tied for the eighth-most penalties in the league and the sixth-most penalty yardage.
Ironically, Lions vice chairman Bill Ford Jr. called the Chicago Bears a bunch of thugs during a charity function on Tuesday night.
“[Soldier Field] was really alive, and it was alive when we played those same bunch of thugs on Monday Night (two years ago),” Ford said. “When this place gets going, it’s electric.”
In Detroit, stupid starts from the top and trickles down.
