First-round pick Datone Jones had a brief debut with the Green Bay Packers on Friday. He played one play and then left with an ankle injury.

Well, if you had images of Nick Perry — who missed the majority of last season with a wrist injury — dancing in your head, don’t. Jones is going to be fine.

He may even practice yet this week.

“He’ll miss a couple of days this week,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said after practice.

The Packers may be cautious with Jones and hold him out of Saturday’s preseason game with the Rams, but it sounds like he’ll be back sooner rather than later.

While Jones wasn’t back at practice on Monday, a couple other key guys were. Receiver Randall Cobb returned from the biceps injury he suffered last week and running back DuJuan Harris came off the physically unable to perform list after battling a knee injury.

I am so fired-up to see how Jones & Perry are utilized in our scheme.

Jones will have great responsibilities early in the season vs. the read-options of both the San Francisco 40-Whiners & the Washington Foreskins…

lol…When the Packers give out ANY kind of injury details or status, I just kind of giggle…..Like late last season, when McCarthy announced that Sherrod may play yet towards the end of last season…Saying “He was close”…..lol

Yup, this entire D(assuming decent overall health) comes down to how Jones and Perry can changle the presence we have upfront. So, so hoping these 2 are difference makers.
