Bryan Bulaga’s Season May Be Over
Update: The Packers have confirmed that Bryan Bulaga tore his ACL and will miss the entire season. The plan now appears to be to move rookie David Bakhtiari into the starting lineup at left tackle.
Bad news out of Green Bay. The Packers fear left tackle Bryan Bulaga may have torn a ligament in his knee during Saturday’s Family Night scrimmage and that the injury could end his season.
The team was running tests on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury.
Bulaga, who missed nine games last season with a hip injury, played 30 snaps during Family Night and stayed on the field for the duration of the event. He didn’t report a problem until afterwards.
So what happens if Bulaga is indeed lost for the year?
The Packers would have to move Marshall Newhouse or rookie David Bakhtiari to left tackle. Newhouse played there last season, but wasn’t particularly impressive. Bakhtiari might be the better option. He’s been impressive in camp and played the position in college.
There’s also always former first-round pick Derek Sherrod, if he ever gets back on the football field again. Sherrod is currently on the physically unable to perform list because of the leg injury he suffered in late 2011.
Stay tuned for more.
