Aaron Rodgers is getting paid, son! The Green Bay Packers quarterback checked in at No. 6 on Forbes’ annual list of the 100 highest-paid athletes.
Rodgers did that based largely on the gigantic contract extension he signed this offseason. And more accurately because that contract extension will pay him $43 million this year between the signing bonus and salary.
So, he probably won’t be this high on the list in the coming years.
All told, Rodgers is worth $49 million this year. That includes the aforementioned contract and another $6 million in endorsements. Discount double check that!
Rodgers is not the highest-paid football player on the list, though. New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees came in at No. 5 with a total worth of $51 million.
The top four, in order, were Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.
Packers linebacker Clay Matthews also made the list, coming at No. 53. Like Rodgers, he signed a huge contract extension this offseason. Matthews will collect $21.3 million this season from the deal. He also makes another $500,000 in endorsements.
