Packers Got Three Picks for Their Third-Round Selection

The Green Bay Packers traded out of the third round of the NFL Draft entirely.

After swapping second-round picks with the 49ers and picking up a sixth, the Packers sent their third-round pick (No. 93) to Miami. In return, they got picks No. 109 (fourth), No. 146 (fifth) and No. 224 (seventh), according to Rob Demovsky.

What does that mean? Warm bodies.

The Packers will have 10 picks on the final day of the draft — two in the fourth, three in the fifth, two in the sixth and three in the seventh.

It’s like the Green Bay Packers version of free agency!

Trader Ted… Booyah!

While that’s a decent haul for a third-round pick, you don’t get many contributors on the last day of the draft. That is, immediate contributors anyway and that’s what the Packers need to put themselves in with the NFC elite.

In fact, the Packers will probably wind up cutting a couple of those seventh rounders. For example, they cut two seventh rounders last season — Andrew Datko and B.J. Coleman.

So the Packers will get to choose a bunch of camp bodies tomorrow. Then, when the draft ends, they’ll spring into action like a cheetah chasing a gazelle and sign a bunch of undrafted free agents, some of which will comprise part of the roster for years to come.

Feel the excitement!

Ted Thompson. The Admiral. A true cut-throat.

    Lombardi. Wolf. Thompson.

    We are lucky, kids.

    Buckle-up & enjoy the ride.

Our O-Line needs get addressed on 4/27/13

Also wise to make partners with Philbins team & with the team with the most picks in San Fran.

    Go PACK Go!

Center out of cal would be nice for us. Also would love quinton Patton, or Chris Harper. Maybe we grab an actual backup QB? Jesse Williams is also still on the board, I find that a bit shocking. If we’re looking for a free saftey Bacarri Rambo could be a name to watch out for. All I knowis Teddy’s armed with a multitude of picks and tomorrow will be interesting

There’s still some really good talent left. See ya at noon tomorrow. Hopefully, like Monty suggests we can not accumulate more 7th rounders…that rarely does anything for your roster. What’s the last great 7th rounder we took I wonder?

      Mark Tauscher – 7th round 2000.
      Donald Driver – 7th round 1999.
      Adam Timmerman – 7th round 1995.
      Scott Wells – 7th round 2004.

7 of the last 8 seventh round picks by TT are currently on NFL rosters including 3 starters (CJ Wilson, Brad Jones, Matt Flynn)

Actually, TT has drafted much better in rounds 4-7 than round 3 anyway.

This was a brilliant day for TT. He ripped a 6th round pick from San Fran and got Eddie Lacy with their spot anyway. He then ripped a 7th rounder from San Fran to move down to a spot that Miami wanted to move into- bagging 3 more picks.

The Packers started the day with 7 picks left in this draft. They got Eddie Lacy and now have 10 picks left for tomorrow.

This load of picks gives the Packers the most power of anyone on Day 3. With multiple picks in every round, the Packers can get basically whoever they want.

Factor in the asshat FinMe being a 3rd rounder, and they should trade that pick every year just so they never get another disease like that piece of shit.

      But I don’t mean than in a bad way…

Despite the miserable winter and lack of moves this off-season Lacy really makes the whole outlook on 2013 that much brighter. I guess satisfied is the word to use with Datone Jones, hopefully he isn’t another Derreck Sherrod or Justin Harrell.

Saturday is a huge, huge, huge day for Thompson. This is where he needs to “make” the Packers off-season as there is considerable talent still left on the board.

Brandon Jenkins, DE/OLB, Florida State – This would be as solid of a pick as Lacey. This guy was a 1st rounder until season-ending Lisfranc injury.

Barrett Jones, OL, Alabama – Really? This guy was a potential 1st rounder — would love to see GB pick him up in the 4th.

Da’Rick Rogers, WR, Tennessee Tech – Absolute steal/absolute risk. Wouldn’t mind seeing Thompson take a flier on another highly skilled WR. Rodgers to Rogers??

Brian Schwenke, C, California – Would be a nice, safe pick for the Pack especially considering the lack of centers. Would rather see Barrett Jones here but Schwenke is still solid.

Jordan Poyer, CB, Oregon State – Best corner available.

Shamarko Thomas, S, Syracuse & Bacarri Rambo, S, Georgia – I’d prefer Rambo here more than Thomas, either way I’d like to see one of these guys get picked up by the Pack early.

    Others to consider…

Jeff Baca – UCLA – OG
Oday Aboushi – Virgina – OG
    B.W. Webb – William & Mary – CB

Nick Kasa – Colorado – TE – my top tier/steal pick for day 3 — this kid is a STUD!

That’s all I got….who do you got for day 3?

We could use a big day tomorrow.

        I’d like to see

        Barrett Jones
        Brandon Jenkins
        Bacarri Rambo
        Da”Rick Rogers
        Nick Kasa
        Jeff Baca

I think it’s realistic to get everyone of those guys with 10 picks tomorrow. Should be interesting.

Yeah, we should totally get atleast 7-8 starters today because most good teams get their starters in the 7th round.

The Pack actually got 4 picks for their third round pick. They first traded back with SF (again!) and got SF’s third round pick and a 7th round pick. Then they traded the third round pick from SF to Miami for three picks. That’s not too shabby.
