Green Bay Packers Top 10 Drafts
You might be surprised that this is Curly Lambeau’s only entry on the list, but then this was only the third year there was an NFL draft and Curly didn’t do much of anything right toward the end of his reign in Green Bay.
The class is most notable for quarterback Cecil Isbell, who Lambeau chose in the first round. In just five seasons, Isbell was a four-time Pro Bowler and led the NFL in passing yardage, passing touchdowns and passer rating twice. He also rushed for more than 1,500 yards in his short career and led the NFL in yards per carry with 5.2 in his rookie season.
In the sixth round, Lambeau added running back Andy Uram, who played six seasons in Green Bay and was a Pro Bowler in 1939. In the 11th, he drafted guard Pete Tinsley, who played eight seasons with the Packers and was a Pro Bowler in 1939.
Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.
