The news just keeps getting worse for the Green Bay Packers. Running back Cedric Benson has a Lisfranc foot injury and will miss at least eight weeks.
The news was first reported by ESPN.
The network also said Benson could miss the entire season. New York Jets receiver Santonio Holmes suffered the same injury last week and he’s now on injured reserve.
A Lisfranc fracture occurs when one or all of the metatarsal bones are displaced from the tarsus. In other words, bones are all over the place.
Benson, who went down in the first half of the Packers’ loss to the Colts, said after the game he didn’t think his injury was serious. Good thing he’s not a doctor.
The Packers will have to pull it together with Alex Green, Brandon Saine and James Starks, who has been inactive for both games since returning from a turf toe injury.
