… a new car! Actually, no. Green Bay Packers punter Tim Masthay did not win a new car. He did win the NFC special teams player of the week award for week two, though.
Who cares? He’s a punter.
Well, under normal circumstances we’d agree. La di da.
But Masthay pretty much won the award for the shovel pass he tossed to Tom Crabtree on the Packers fake field goal on 4th-and-26 (does anyone else remember the significance of that down and distance — [shudder]). So, on the day, Masthay was 1-for-1 with 27 yards and a touchdown.
Oh. He did some punting too, averaging 42 yards net per kick and dropping three of them inside the Bears’ 20. That effectively limited Devin Hester to standing around with his thumb in his ass.
Not bad, especially for a ginger.
