Driver Wants More PT, Might Get It This Week
Even though just about everyone but the Green Bay Packers and Donald Driver would admit Donald Driver probably should have retired prior to this season, Driver doesn’t enjoy being the forgotten man on offense.
Against the 49ers, Driver played only three snaps, which is exactly three more than inactive sixth receiver Jarrett Boykin played. Both players caught the same number of balls. Driver, who is clearly now the Packers fifth receiver, wouldn’t have played at all if Greg Jennings hadn’t removed himself in the fourth quarter with a groin injury.
Of course, Driver didn’t think too much that.
“I didn’t go into this game thinking I wasn’t going to play,” Driver said today. “The way it came out, I didn’t. It sucks, but that’s the way it goes.”
Well, good news! Jennings’ injury looks like it will keep him out of tomorrow night’s game against Chicago, which will mean more playing time for Driver. Hell, Boykin might even be active.
Jennings is listed as doubtful going into the game and no one seems overly optimistic about him making a miraculous recovery before game time.
We expect that will mean heavier doses of Randall Cobb and James Jones, as well as the obligatory Donald Driver sighting.
Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.
