Packers Finally Announce Remaining Roster Moves
The Green Bay Packers got down to the NFL-mandated 75-player limit today by making moves with 10 players, Monday.
The team also released five guys on Friday. The biggest move was placing injured linebacker Desmond Bishop on injured reserve, which means he won’t return in 2012.
Running back Du’ane Bennett, tight end DeMarco Cosby, guard Ray Dominguez, defensive end Johnny Jones and receiver Shaky Smithson joined Bishop on injured reserve.
Tight end Andrew Quarless and linebacker Frank Zombo were put on the physically unable to perform list. They’ll be eligible to return after week six of the regular season.
The Packers released fullback Jon Hoese and defensive end Jarius Wynn.
Wynn played extensively last season, but seemed to regress as the season went on and didn’t impress during the preseason.
Perhaps more interesting is the Packers didn’t do anything with injured tackle Derek Sherrod, who’s coming off a broken leg. That suggests the Packers believe Sherrod could be ready early in the regular season.
Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.
