Chad Clifton May Not Be Finished Yet
We pretty much figured Chad Clifton had played his last NFL game when the Green Bay Packers released him earlier this year. The New England Patriots might have other ideas.
The Patriots, who love to collect old vets no one wants, will have Clifton in for a workout this week and the team plans to give him a physical. As you might recall, Clifton failed his physical in Green Bay, which is why the Packers say they cut him.
We say it was because he didn’t play well last season when he was actually able to play, which wasn’t very often.
Anyway, Clifton has reportedly been rehabbing his ailing back in hope of one more chance at glory. The Patriots have some depth issues on their offensive line and hell, they’ve been known to dust off guys older than Clifton, who’s 36.
Would it be weird if Clifton lined up across from the Packers in, say, the Super Bowl? Yeah, probably. He’s got to pass a physical and get signed before we need to start worrying about that, though.
Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.
