The Green Bay Packers now officially lead the NFL in rankings.
The AP released their first ever AP Pro32 rankings on Tuesday, which is the NFL’s version of the AP college football poll and ranks the 32 NFL teams in order.
Why anyone thought this was necessary isn’t clear, but it gives NFL writers something to do, so there’s that. In college football, the poll is used to determine the best teams in the nation, which then feeds into the BCS system and determines who will play for the national championship.
Perhaps everyone missed this, but the NFL has a playoff system so the AP Pro32 is really nothing more than a glorified power ranking system.
Believe you me, we’re pretty impressed.
The Patriots came in second, followed by the Giants, 49ers and Ravens. Indianapolis was last and our friends the Vikings finished 29th.
