Packers Have More Injuries Than Previously Reported
As the Green Bay Packers get ready to hit the practice field this morning, they’ll be without several players and that list of injured players is longer than it was yesterday.
Joining John Kuhn, Derek Sherrod and Andrew Quarless in the failed physical department are linebackers Desmond Bishop and Frank Zombo, defensive lineman Johnny Jones and guard Jaymes Brooks.
Unlike the first three guys we mentioned, all of whom are still rehabilitating injuries suffered last season, the new additions are somewhat curious.
Bishop failed his physical with a non-football injury. In other words, he was probably doing something stupid during the offseason and hurt himself.
Jones, who was a practice squad player last season, and Brooks, who was signed as an undrafted free agent, probably reduced their razor-thin chances of making the Packers roster to nil by not passing their physicals Wednesday.
Zombo, who was injured much of the 2011 season and largely unproductive when he was healthy, is in a similar situation. The Packers have plenty of outside linebackers at the moment. If Zombo doesn’t get on the field in short order, you may as well consider him a goner too.
Monty McMahon is one of the founders of Total Packers. He is probably the most famous graduate of UW-Oshkosh next to Jim Gantner.
