We suspect this will turn into nothing, but [intlink id=”196″ type=”category”]Indianapolis Colts[/intlink] owner Jim Irsay spent some time in Brett Favre’s hometown of Hattiesburg, Miss. this weekend.
The Colts have discussed the possibility of adding a veteran quarterback to start the season if Peyton Manning isn’t ready. Their franchise had neck surgery in the offseason and hasn’t taken a snap this preseason.
Speculation has been rampant that Irsay is interested in signing Favre ever since he tweeted his whereabouts on Sunday.
There’s been no indication Irsay has had any contact with Favre or his agent Bus Cook, but what else would an NFL owner show up in Hattiesburg for?
Manning’s current backup is Curtis Painter, a sixth-round pick by the Colts in 2009.
