We’ve all made stupid bets.
Usually it’s because of that sonofabitch called pride, which needles you in your side just as soon as you’re forced to defend your home turf. A wise man once told me never to bet with your heart unless it’s a lead-pipe cinch.
Why?
More often than not, you’re going to end up doing something stupid when you lose.
Pittsburgh mayor Luke Ravenstahl made a stupid bet and this week he got to do some stupid shit. Ravenstahl’s stupid bet was to pick against the Green Bay Packers in [intlink id=”1425″ type=”category”]Super Bowl XLV[/intlink].
Pride needled him.
Green Bay mayor Jim Schmitt collected on Tuesday, when Ravenstahl flew a Packers flag outside Pittsburgh’s City-County building, wore a Packers Super Bowl champions shirt, and shoveled the walkway of St. Rosalia Parish, the church [intlink id=”67″ type=”category”]Mike McCarthy[/intlink]’s parents attend.
I think this is probably Schmitt’s crowning achievement as mayor of [intlink id=”63″ type=”category”]Green Bay[/intlink].
I kid, of course.
Ravenstahl was a good sport about it, but I wonder how his pride feels today.
