If Packers Move Up, Look For Bulaga
The NFL Draft is finally here, or at least it will be tonight.
We’ve previously discussed the possibility of the Green Bay Packers moving up in the first round and looked at the players the team might target. The National Football Post’s Michael Lombardi says the specific player the Packers have their eye on is Iowa left tackle Bryan Bulaga.
I hear OT Bryan Bulaga will not be a top-10 pick, but he’s loved in San Francisco at No. 13, and the Packers might be moving up to get him.
As we noted, the Packers would be in a good position to select Bulaga if they moved into the 10-12 range. Those picks are owned by Jacksonville, Denver and Miami.
If Lombardi is correct, the obvious key is get ahead of the 49ers. However, to give you an idea of how much of a crapshoot predicting the draft is, there have been quite a few rumors that the 49ers would take Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen at No. 13.
If the Packers were able to land Bulaga, it would fill a major need, but the price to move up could be steep. In addition to swapping first-round picks with their trade partner, the Packers would likely have to include their second-round pick and possibly even another pick.
