Green Bay Packers’ quarterback Aaron Rodgers sat down with Ed Werder for ESPN’s Sunday Conversation.
In the interview, which took place in Lake Tahoe, Rodgers discusses taking over for Brett Favre, how close the Packers are, his rivalry with Jay Cutler, how Packers’ fans have treated him, and of course what he thinks of the Brett Favre situation.
Rodgers continues to say the right things, not only demonstrating that he’s the leader of the Green Bay Packers, but that he’s comfortable in the role. Although, predictably (because he’s probably as tired of hearing about that prick as we are) Rodgers kept his words brief when asked about Favre.
On how close the Packers are, Rodgers feels good about a team that lost several close contests in last season’s 6-10 debacle.
“I like what Dom Capers has done with the defense – bringing more a attacking, aggressive style to the defense. I think just our position in general, where people may be sleeping on us because of the addition of Jay Cutler in Chicago, whatever may happen in Minnesota, and Matthew Stafford in Detroit. It’s been kind of nice to be flying under the radar as a team this year.”
On the Favre joining the Vikings:
“He’ll be a Viking, so of course we’ll want to beat him.”
On how Packers fans have received him:
“… I do the interview (after the Detroit game) and run off the field to a very large ovation, and that was probably the most special moment of the entire season for me. It’s like no other place to play and anyone who comes in from another city realizes that and tells you that.”
